The new art blog (+general blog). Yeah, after many many years, I've decided to put this LJ art blog behind me. The new blog will be active, though not always with art, but there's always tags and categories for selective reading. ;D This new blog also combines my photography blog I made not that long ago (a year ago?) Yes, the idea is to bring all my dead blogs into one place to create an active one, lol.

I'm not deleting this LJ account, since I do want access to some LJ communities still. But there shall be no more updates so it is effectively dead.

If you happen to have an external blog and would like to link exchange, feel free to let me know somehow. I pretty much took the link list from my Blogspot account so it is still awaiting expansion lol.

This class is a serious test of my attention span. =\ How do you teach something like this with powerpoint slides, a laser pointer, and a monotone voice?

Evidently, I didn't stay focused for very long. And I was able to draw this only because this is the position he is in most of the time -- that is, pointing at the damn display and blabbing on until he needs to write something on the slides. -_-"

(After class was done this dude was like "wow you found that lecture really captivating eh vigorously taking notes and really paying attention to the prof" ... LOL yeah man, that's exactly it.)

Mmm practice sketch last time = worth it haha. I was hoping I can (finally) finish this today or tomorrow but the lights went out a while ago so I stopped (hence the game talk above) and now I'm not in the mood anymore. SEEEEEEE.... the first time I'm working on this since Jan or Feb (...) Mother Nature decides to mess with me. 'Tis fate.

I keep forgetting to buy that damn blender. DX Next time I go to an art store...!!

Haha o god I'm totally posting this to procrastinate my PDEng assignment lolll I've exhausted all resources and THEN! I remembered about this. :'D Changed some things since the last time I posted this. (Not much though.) I was inspired to finish this again, after instilling 5cm/s into some of my friends, and from (finally, after 2 years) receiving studioRS's "Something Colorful" from Toby this weekend. Lots of nice art in there I was like WOW WANTS TO DRAW. (Hmm I would say seeing Toby's sketchbooks inspired me too!)

This CG and that Lightning CG....!!! My ultimate goals in life, I swear. I think both of them are as old as.. the # of years it took for me to get that artbook from Toby LOL. O god. Time flies.

OFF TOPIC........book recs anyone? :'D Recently been wanting to get into reading again. I'm currently reading "Memoirs of a Geisha" (lol yes yes, behind) and I guess I'm looking for similar books; historic fiction-ish books. I'm enjoying this book so far, and while I still haven't gotten past 60 pages in "The Other Boleyn Girl" (Philippa Gregory) I'm liking that too. Sooo.. anything similar, or just anything epic, please recommend! Thanks. :'D

It's really easy for me to forget about this blog. OTL I try, I try.

Sometimes I see this baby in a stroller on my way to work in the mornings. She has the prettiest face ever and you just want to squish her. (And I hate babies/toddlers/etc too...ahhh) Sometimes, it just makes me so relax and calm seeing an innocent child's sincere smile. It's like. So pure, and untainted by this world. Something I will never have again.

Ahhh... my patience ran out while drawing this, so this is sloppy and will likely remain like this. I really want to update Y.net though. Argh hands, draw something nice!!!!!!

I was configuring Fresh Baked's guestbook today and it made me get back into the whole coding fun. So, after I finish this picture I will update Yukizora.net FOR SRSSSS XD Look forward to it! It will be grand. (Hopefully.)

Speaking of Fresh Baked,

Being a guest artist = free copy of love. This is my first time reading a Fresh Baked doujin ~~hanged~~ and I have to say I'm really impressed. For a two people team, Bar and Tanchi did an extremely good job. I guess it's nothing new to FB fans but I really enjoyed their stories and the art. My favourite scene from this book was probably when Tamaki was like "let's all be thankful we're still alive -serious face-" HAHAHA oh Tamaki~~~~ (read the doujin to know what I'm talking about XD)

Hm, but it is weird... seeing your art in book form. Never mind that it was just one page. For some reason it looks better printed lol >_> I compared my original from my sketchbook to this, haha yeah... -twiddle thumbs- I just realized I forgot to sign/watermark it though! BAWWW everyone else at least had their name on it, I feel like a loser now! ;_;

...But, the Fresh Baked website is also getting a revamp very soon, so remember to check their website! =D The new layout is cuuuute. (Hahah I saw it already... VIP STATUS WHAAAAT)

It's been a long day. I'm tired. Lots of things added up together. I had a bad and horribly long day. Sometimes I don't think I can live up to the expectations life give me, or the ones my chosen path give me, or the ones I give myself. I don't know what to do with myself sometimes. I just want to do well in what I do, and that is becoming increasingly difficult. (Even drawing, as this thing clearly illustrates.) Now I understand why adults always told me to cherish childhood while it lasted. It's not that childhood was particularly sparkly or super happy fun, it's just... a lot better. Things were simpler back then, I didn't have to think as much, I didn't have as many things to consider each time I made a decision, I didn't have as many responsibilities, and most of all I didn't care about anything most of the time.

Now the depressing news is that it only gets worse from here.

I think I'm just having a bad & moody day. I just need to get a good night's sleep, have a nice talk with chanchan, and get on with life. So, I'll start with the sleeping part...

I feel very in touch with my heritage lately, possibly due to all these people who keep asking me, "Are you Korean?" The answer is, I'm actually half. : |

This "photoshoot" happened pretty randomly. I have other photos that have yet to be editted. Ahhh I need a faster machine.

I don't know how many people have seen the Korean drama, 1st Shop of Coffee Prince. I'm too lazy to explain but you can't really appreciate the humour/pun in this unless you've seen it. "My haru~" "Isn't it September already >_>" is what it says between Tamaki & Hitachiin. ~~Ahh I think the doujin has been published and sold already...?~~ Apparently not yet. It will come soon!

Hey das my real name! lol I been relaxed about this online name business, and have a for long time stopped putting Kodoku/Koko as my name online, though you guys probably didn't notice coz I'm never around. (Although I mostly use Chenxi as opposed to Caroline... I do feel kind of exposed now.) You can still call me Koko if it makes you happy, I don't really care about changing the way people call me. As long as I know you're talking to me, it's cool. I just don't introduce myself as Kodoku/Koko anymore.

There's this woman in my company, but in the Montreal Office. Her name is Stella Lussier. ~~I'm so curious how she looks like.~~ When I came across her name one day, I kind of sat in my seat going omgwtfbbq?! for a good 2 minutes. Hence, I guess that is a large part of why I drew Stellar again, after ... 2 years?

I've made lots of realisations and decisions about myself and my art during my absence, details too long to enclose. But basically, it's amazing that I'm attempting to CG this, and I've already made it as far as finishing inking, and doing the background as we speak! lol Stellar <3

Drawing Stellar and listening to GSD music made me feel like I'm 17 all over again. Though nostalgic, also makes me sad. Not because of how crappy GSD ended (lol yes I still remember), but at fleeting time, I guess. Lots happened in these 3 years, but thinking back to GSD and indulging myself in it feels like nothing happened and I am still where I was, who I was, doing what I always did. Then having to snap back to reality and realize that right now it's 10:35PM on a Sunday, which can only mean one thing... =_= how I hate Monday mornings.

You know, I think it's a sign that your fandom love is dying in general, if you start to feel out of place at a con. Like usual, I didn't cosplay this year. But unlike usual, this year I looked so "normal" at the con it made me feel weird. I'm sure achooey shared the sentiment, though she was less "normal" than me by a bit LOL.....

This year's "con report" actually involves photo! Mainly because I didn't do much during the day to write anything substantial with only text! :D .... (Haha I'm running out of things to do at AN, wonder what I did in past years?) Somewhere along the day I made it a goal to take pictures of Final Fantasy characters, and strictly FF as in no KH. But I couldn't help myself and took some photos of costumes that I thought were awesome pawsome (...co-worker rubbed this one on me) sooo!

I don't even know what this is, something from KH I think, but I thought it was awesome.

They were awesome. D: There was Kadaj and Cloud in the group as well, but I was too awkward to ask for a complete group photo coz I stalked this Sephiroth long enough, and we kept making eye contact so he knew I was watching them too! D:! But ooooo shiny I want to touch his hair... one of the better Sephi's I've seen in years.

I..I didn't know it was a man Aerith until after I took the photo! :c I was wondering he (she?) only nodded and never said anything when I asked for a photo and stuff. I actually felt pretty stupid afterwards for thinking it was actually a girl at first, but in my defense check out that hair, wouldn't you have thought it was a girl too?! Not to mention when I first saw this Aerith it was a back view D:... in any case I would like to point out how hilarious those dead flowers in the basket look.

...Therefore, my day would not be complete if I didn't take a photo of a girl Aerith before I left.

MISA MISA!! >A< !!!!!!!!!! One of the best I've seen this year. It took me about 3 seconds to register that she was Misa when she walked past me, so I turned around and yelled out "MISA!" and it took her 2 seconds to register that I was talking to her. But in the end she turned around and I took a nice photo of her like the paparazzi that I am. -teeth shine- Really though, I don't normally see such an accurate (and cute) Misa. Last year there were a shitload of Misas running around, and none of them had blonde hair. This year, the number of Misas decreased but I would say the quality definitely went up!

AHHHH pretty Misa!!! <- is starting to sound like a creepo I love this photo possibly my favourite one from today look at Misa's outfit DAYUUMMMMM Ryuk is pretty awesome too, and I honestly think the Light cosplayer will look better in a Reno outfit, but not bad the way he is haha. He looked at me with the same face after I took the pic and thanked them, achooey said he was being in character hahaha. >: |

In terms of dealer's this year, it seems that I always miss/can't find twinbells's table. I SWEAR I went by every table that had books on top, but I couldn't find you Cheryl! Otherwise I didn't do much in dealer's. Looked at stuff. Was tempted to buy some artbooks until I saw the price. Never was a manga/DVD collector, or a figurine/plushie collector, though a uber cute Stellar figurine tempted me, hence... not much to do in there. But it's cool.

This year's Artist Alley disappointed me. (No offence to all artists who sold there, nothing personal.) I walked around 3 times looking for Studio Qube and asked around artists, turns out they weren't there this year... :(... I'm so sad... I wanted more SQ prints... should've bought more last year... :(.... Saw my friend's booth, saw shilin, Kaze-hime, PB (naming names I recognize), sypri, and other artists I've seen from the year before. Didn't buy any since a lot of their prints were repeats from last year, and I'd gotten all the ones I wanted from the year before. I really, really wanted to see SQ again but noooooo DX bawwww. But anyway, I did discover new talents!

Frank Hong. Very very awesome stuff, and CHEAP. This print was $8, CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT... and if you bought 2, you'd get a super awesome bookmark. I didn't pay for this print so I passed on the 2nd print, but now that I think about it I probably would've wanted some more. The pic looks kind of shitty in colours bc of my webcam, but the print up close in real life makes me so comfortable and peaceful when I look at it. Damn... I wanna draw this good! :(

This girl's set of 8 NANA postcard prints were pretty sweet too, and you get them in a nice NANA envelope when you buy a set!! Being the fangirl that I am I asked her to sign the envelope too. Except I am a stupid fangirl and was too stupid to get a card/ask for her DA or something... now I am not too sure who drew this since DA is ... you know, big. Damn it. But yes, very nice stuff! But these were the only 2 prints-ish things I bought. Compared to last year when I blew lots of money in AA, this year I took out all that money beforehand for nothing! What a joke... sigh! Studio Qube, come back~~~~~~~~ TAT~~~~~

I bought some Monokuro Boo earrings from a table in AA too though. It was the one and only one, and it's MINE AHAHAHA >:D haha I dunno they look handmade, but purdy. Also 2 buttons and... that's all of my spendings today. Besides the ridiculousssssly expensive Saturday pass and food. But yup. That was my con part of the day. Other than having to stand in front of a really really loud and annoying Haruhi, my day was koo. Excuse me while I go look at those Misa pics again 8D~~ no i r not creepy at all :(

Hence, I decided to draw a Misa...... If you check back on all entries under my "Death Note" tag and look at the Misa pics I drew in the past, DAMN they look different. And I realized I drew this outfit, or variations of it, 3 times already. Unconsciously. Wow... everytime I draw it, something changes. But in the end, I got lucky this time and I am rather fond of this Misa over my past ones. I never realized I drew Misa so... so... shoujo and... I don't know... happy. I guess she is a happy person but... she's evil and badass too! Haha ok I'll just stfu now...

Well school actually ended a while ago, and I'm one week into my work term already. I guess I still haven't found time to draw or update much haha. Hello to the new flist people! I was playing Crisis Core on ying_wen's PSP today, and he is, so, beautiful. I hope you like Zack coz you'll be seeing more of him here. The process of drawing this was interesting since I haven't drawn for like 5 months, I need to get back into this drawing business. OTL

Hello to the new people on the flist! Waves. (And uh, bye to the people who deleted their accounts/removed me etc? ;_;) I do believe I was tagged in a few memes during these months. I saw those posts but I didn't remember who or when, so uh... now I'm just going to be pretend I was never tagged, unless you point them out to me again. T_T

As to why I was suddenly inspired to post at 3AM when I have class in about 5.5 hours--beats me! :D This is about 2 weeks old as well nod nod. For the keen people, this is indeed charcoal, and it is indeed my first time using charcoal. I'm sure pros could already see the noobness in using the medium and want to strangle me for butchering charcoal. -hides- I love charcoal though, and I love my textured paper. Definitely something I want to do again! (And I finally got over my fear of varnish. XD ....Uh, sort of.)

As for Yukizora.net, yes I know it's been untouched since November 07 (LOL omg typing it out makes me realize how long it's been...). The first thing I do after school is done (late April) is revamping my site like omg. But for now, you can take a look at treat's newly renovated art site, SMASH! Cookie! :) Revived from a year hiatus wooooooo go Mufffff XD (Wow I can't believe I still remember HTML codes..)

Hope everyone's new year is kicking off great. :D I'm still trying to get used to writing 2008. XD School in 2 days, moving on Sunday, haven't packed yet.

I don't remember doing much art at all in 2007 (is that just me?) but I'm going to make an effort to do more in 2008! Time management is key. -noddles- I am slowly fighting away my art block, but some of it is still here. (E.g. CG block is still here) I've realized that the key for me is to see beautiful things. When I see beautiful things I feel like drawing. This could mean anything. Nature, animation, movie, other's art, and Zack (FFVII). (HE IS BEAUTIFUL T^T flails)

ying_wen stayed over for some freaking long art session, and she showed me this book she had by Andrew Loomis, "Drawing the Head & Hands". In all my CG block today, I decided to flip through it again and omg inspiration by beautiful things. So I drew this page today. Didn't take as long as I anticipated, and I think these are some of my most polished pencil realism to date. (Which is kind of sad, I know, considering these are not supposed to be polished, just sketches.) But it's hard drawing yourself because you keep wanting to change some parts on your face. XD I will do a more elaborate self-portrait someday...

I did these in pencil too, but I was hoping to do some charcoal since I got materials this week. (I'm still afraid of my varnish spray. Someone spray it for me!! >__< ) I do plan to do some serious charcoal stuff though, yes yes on top of everything else I want to try, so 2008 will be that!

I'm not going to bring my watercolour and other paint stuff to school with me (at least not anytime soon), so I'm gonna focus on pencil/charcoal stuff. More specifically practising my shapes and forms bc wow I cannot shade. When I get better, I'll move on to colour stuff. When I'm over THAT, then maybe I can CG properly again. XD But of course, school comes first..... >_> lol engineering what T_T

Discovered this quick Lightning sketch that I don't even remember doing. I'M GOING TO IMPROVE FIGURE DRAWING TOO T___T (...hopefully.)

And lastly, these two are on my to-finish CG list. T_T I have a problem with Lightning's mouth and hand, which has prevented me from finishing this for half a month or so. I am SO CLOSE but I just can't do it. And has anybody else seen 5 centimeters per second? The most beautiful animation film EVER *___* ♥♥♥ Everybody must see it if you haven't. It was so beautiful that I started to CG (read: very big deal), but because I have problems with the little girl (Akari) and the stupid trunks, this is left unfinished as well... Someday... I will finish it... >_>

Um. lol. I like Yuffie! :D;; Even though Selphie was the hyper one in FFVIII, I found Selphie so annoying for some reason, yet I'm cool with Yuffie! Although I actually got pretty pissed off during my first try of FFVII because by the time I got to the Junon forests, I had like... no money left, so I had to fight for a LONG time before Yuffie finally appeared. I was pretty ticked off and annoyed to the extreme lol! Now my favourite trio party is Cloud, Aerith, and Yuffie. (Yuffie interchangeable with Red XIII though, I like the animal.) YES I KNOW, MY FAVOURITE PARTY (or at least one of them) WON'T BE STICKING WITH ME TIL THE END OF THE GAME... ;_;" but I can't help it T___T I like the FF7 system that other members who are not battling gets leveled up while the active party is leveling up. No need for extra battles unlike FFVIII lol. I have Squall at level 100 and Irvine at level like.. friggin 40, because I just don't care enough to level up Irvine D:!!

So yeah. I think my OTP is going to be Cloud x Aerith... XD Actually I'm quite fond of Zack x Aerith as well. Um, for some reason I don't like Tifa? Well relative to Aerith, I have no real problem with Tifa. I just... like Aerith more. XD Damn you Sephiroth. ;____; [/end crasy obsessive FF7 talk]

Well, in response to the k-pop uproar lately involving the new Super Junior MV "Don't Don", I uh... feel slightly weird using this icon. ~~But I'm using it anyway because it looks so cool. D:~~ I don't listen to Suju and I honestly only watched the MV to check out the violin boy Henry Lau. I have to say, I totally did NOT see this coming when I saw him perform at the nightmarket last summer in 2006. I did not think this boy dressed in white, moonwalking to his (very good, might I add) violin playing, about 5 feet away from me, would a year later be signed with SM in Korea and on stage with DBSK?! (No, the point here is Hero in DBSK.) Even my parents, who have no 音乐细胞 whatsoever, said their favourite performance that night was Henry's. This is so weird. Too weird for me to fangirl over him. I'm sure if he hadn't been from Toronto, if I hadn't seen him perform before he debuted as a celebrity, I would be all sorts of OMGs right now. And it's not like I personally knew him, compared to some people on my flist (ahem XD), but SM in Korea sounds so far, yet A.Y. Jackson in Toronto is SO FREAKING CLOSE IT'S CREEPY?!
