falling speed falling speed

Haha o god I'm totally posting this to procrastinate my PDEng assignment lolll I've exhausted all resources and THEN! I remembered about this. :'D Changed some things since the last time I posted this. (Not much though.) I was inspired to finish this again, after instilling 5cm/s into some of my friends, and from (finally, after 2 years) receiving studioRS's "Something Colorful" from Toby this weekend. Lots of nice art in there I was like WOW WANTS TO DRAW. (Hmm I would say seeing Toby's sketchbooks inspired me too!)

This CG and that Lightning CG....!!! My ultimate goals in life, I swear. I think both of them are as old as.. the # of years it took for me to get that artbook from Toby LOL. O god. Time flies.

OFF TOPIC........book recs anyone? :'D Recently been wanting to get into reading again. I'm currently reading "Memoirs of a Geisha" (lol yes yes, behind) and I guess I'm looking for similar books; historic fiction-ish books. I'm enjoying this book so far, and while I still haven't gotten past 60 pages in "The Other Boleyn Girl" (Philippa Gregory) I'm liking that too. Sooo.. anything similar, or just anything epic, please recommend! Thanks. :'D

(Please do not recommend Twilight series.)

T-That is so pretty a;ldfkj ♥

I'd say..."The Time Traveler's Wife"...I LOVED that book. And would hold it close to my chest if had it now. Not exactly historic fiction, but you might like it? *tries to think of better historical fiction* I read too much fantasy...orz

Ooooooh thanks Karu! *_* That sounds interesting. I'll check out the first couple of pages off Amazon or something before I decide to buy it. Haha I remember my fantasy days too, but the fact that I couldn't read English back in the days probably killed it for me... I couldn't understand that it just WASN'T a valid English word but a made-up word in the fantasy world. O woeeee.

Post more art! :D

Devil in the White City by Erik Larson is really good. It's the only title I could think of right now..

I think it was her pastel colors, especially the pink. =D

Good historical fiction is the love of my life.

The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Les Miserables, The Great Gatsby, The Good Earth. The other Philippa Gregory books are just downhill, but The Constant Princess is a nice one.

Anything by Tamora Pierce, the Dark Angel Series by Meredith Ann Pierce, Abhorsen series by Gareth Nix, and Kara Dalkey's books.

I'll try to think of some more.

...........Good lord twin, that's a lot of books you thought in one go. Please tell me you're in some sorta English/Lit major 0__0 I heard Les Miserables is a really epic book though but I never looked into it to find out what exactly it's about. (Haha I think you were the one that recommended The Other Boleyn Girl to me!!)

What's your favourite book of all time?
ladyfatale[info]ladyfatale on March 12th, 2009 09:33 am (UTC)
Haha, if I were a English major I would have probably recommended some more classy or obscure things. I just read a lot pre-college and then suddenly went to like 2 books a year. Since I haven't been able to graduate from the young adult section into more grown up books, I've been reading more of non-fiction lately. If you need any non-fiction recommendations...lol.

Les Miserables is awesome, but unnecessarily long in some parts. The unabridged version is almost 1500 pages, so understandably if you only want to read like 500, then you should try the abridged.

THE GREATEST BOOK OF ALL TIME is probably The Count of Monte Cristo! There's a debate abridged vs unabridged, since most abridged versions are unlabeled and people (like me) read them by mistake the first time. Either is good if you're not like, an unabridged purist. IT'S EPIC, best revenge story ever. EVER. The movie has a different ending, so don't do the movie.

A close second would be The Three Musketeers. Same author, same epic levels, but more entertaining chapter to chapter and hilarious.
